The Thorntons came to Cornhills in 1860, Richard's Great Great Grandfather built the present house in 1888,the original house is now used for animal housing.The farm, which is 540 acres, is an all grass stock rearing enterprise.

The farmhouse accommodation is perfectly situated for visiting Belsay Hall and Castle, Wallington Hall and Hadrian's Wall. Sweethope Lough is the local fishing lake, the whole area is ideal for bird and animal watching.

Beautiful house Excellent hospitality

This is the bedroom Cornhills farmhouse stands in an acre of garden with outstanding views over open countryside.The house,which is fully centrally heated has large beautifully decorated rooms with a mosaic tiled hall floor.The lounge with colour television is open all day. The two twins(one ensuite) and double(ensuite) have tea and coffee making facilities,hair dryers and radio alarm clocks. WE serve a tradional English breakfast, packed lunches.We do not do evening meals, but can recommend two local pubs
